Day 1

Dear Students,

Today, you will be setting up your interactive notebooks for our next unit on Genetics. You will be making the same unit introduction pages for this unit that you did in our cells unit. Take a few minutes and follow these simple steps :)genetics 2
  1. Open to your next new page. This is your title page. Write the word "Genetics" somewhere large on the page. Dress it up! Make it look great! Feel free to search images of "genetics" and see what you come up with. Take no more than five or six minutes to do this.
  2. The next page is your "Aha Connections" page. Create a medium-sized light bulb in the middle and place in the question: "Why do I look and act the way I do?"
  3. Remember that the right hand side of the page is the "Input" side and the left hand side is the "Output" side.

1. Clothing Combo Activity

Your teacher(s) will be explaining a project that you are going to do for your unit introduction. Listen carefully to the instructions, participate and follow along.

2. Online Discussion

After the activity, your assignment is to participant in your first online discussion.

Click on the Discussion Tab to the right. Watch the short video on the Discussions Tab to see how to make a post. Find your group which has your name listed next to it.

On the day 1 page, make at least two posts either responding to a question or asking one yourself about the clothing combo activity you just participated in to your group. There is no limit to how much you can post; however, please read your posts for grammar/spelling errors and ensure it is a productive post.

3. DNA Powerpoint

Your teacher(s) are going to be going through this powerpoint, but if you finish the previous work early, get a jump start on it. It's available to you!
You do NOT need to write notes word for word, try your best to pick and choose what will be best.
